CISA says it added Linux kernel flaw CVE-2026-46300 to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog on October 28, 2026. CISA gives federal civilian agencies until Saturday, October 31, to apply mitigations, and its entry requires forensic triage. CISA lists known ransomware campaign use as unknown.
CISA says CVE-2026-46300 can be chained with CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 to implant PHP webshells and run commands as root.
What CISA says the flaw is. CISA classifies CVE-2026-46300 as a missing-initialization flaw. It says the kernel fails to preserve the shared-fragment marker when socket buffers are coalesced, which causes ESP input processing to decrypt shared fragments in place and could allow unintended modification of page-cache-backed data.

Chained with PHP flaws. CISA also says CVE-2026-46300 can be chained with CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, two PHP flaws it added to the catalog on October 26, to implant PHP webshells and run commands as root. CISA's entry does not say who is exploiting the flaw, how widely, or provide evidence for the chain.

Not a new bug. The flaw has been public since May 2026, and the Linux kernel CNA lists fixes in stable releases including 5.10.257, 5.15.208, 6.1.174, 6.6.141, 6.12.91, 6.18.33 and 7.0.10. NVD rates it 7.8 (High) with a local attack vector. Only the KEV listing is new.

What to do. CISA tells organizations to apply mitigations per vendor instructions under its BOD 26-04 directive, evaluate each asset's internet exposure, and discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
