GTA VI Physical Copies Will Ship With Download Code Only

Rockstar has confirmed that boxed versions of the next Grand Theft Auto title for PlayStation 5 will not include any disc. Instead, each physical package contains a code redeemable for the full digital download. Pre-orders open worldwide within the next 24 hours.

Pre-order and preload dates are set. Customers who secure digital editions can start pre-loading on November 12. The physical version, which includes a download code inside the box, becomes available from the same date to enable pre-loading.

Everyone gains access on November 19 with no early access phase reported. This ensures digital and physical customers can play on the same day regardless of which edition they select.

Standard and Ultimate Editions are available. The studio has revealed both a standard edition and an Ultimate Edition. The press release covering preload timing and physical contents applies equally to each.

Physical copies confirmed as code-only. A note sent to press in the pre-order details states: "Physical copies of GTAVI will contain a code that can be redeemed for the digital download of the game. A disc will not be included in the box." This applies specifically to the PS5 version referenced throughout the announcement.

The release date remains November 19 2026. Pre-load begins one week earlier on November 12. The absence of a disc in the physical box has drawn attention from enthusiasts who prefer traditional media.
