Microsoft Delays Fable Reboot to February 2027

Microsoft has once again postponed the launch of its Fable reboot, shifting the title from an autumn 2026 window to February 2027. The company reportedly made the change to ensure the game receives its own spotlight amid a crowded slate of major releases.

In a post on X from its Xbox account, Microsoft noted that "This is year is packed with incredible games for XBOX players to enjoy, from Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto VI." "In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we’re moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves," the company added.

The software giant said it will present a fresh look at the reboot along with additional lineup details during its June 7 showcase event. The autumn schedule has filled rapidly, as Grand Theft Auto VI targets a November 19 release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives October 23, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches on October 6.

The studio is expected to disclose exact timing for Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and further projects at the same event. Developed by Playground Games, the title debuted in a 2020 reveal described as a “new beginning” for the franchise. Microsoft initially targeted 2025 before sliding the window to 2026.

Fable will launch on Xbox Series X/S, PC and PS5. The firm also confirmed it will withhold any updates on Project Helix, its next-generation console, from the June 7 event, according to Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty in an Official Xbox Podcast episode that dropped Friday.

Microsoft had indicated only weeks earlier that additional Helix information would surface later in 2025.
