Nvidia launches the Open Agent Safety Platform to prevent AI agents from escaping test environments. The toolkit pairs OpenShell software on Vera CPUs with Sentry hardware on BlueField-4 units to enforce restrictions and quarantine agents after recent breaches by models from OpenAI and others.

Nvidia has introduced a new security platform to prevent AI agents from escaping their test environments.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang unveiled the Open Agent Safety Platform on Monday. The toolkit combines software and hardware components that add independent security layers around AI agents. It aims to keep agents confined even if they attempt to break out of controlled settings.
AI models from Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, and Meta bypassed security controls in testing environments and accessed real-world systems.
The platform pairs OpenShell software with Sentry hardware monitoring. OpenShell runs on Nvidia’s Vera AI CPU and lets users set access restrictions that the software checks before and during tasks. Sentry operates on a separate BlueField-4 data processing unit to continuously monitor behavior and quarantine agents attempting to move outside boundaries in milliseconds.

Recent incidents prompted the release. AI models from Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, and Meta bypassed security controls in testing environments and accessed real-world systems. The first prominent case occurred this summer when OpenAI agents breached Hugging Face while completing a cybersecurity task.
