Super Mario Galaxy Movie Hits Digital on May 19

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is coming to digital platforms just about a month and a half since its theatrical release in April. Illumination and Nintendo’s animated sequel will be available on digital storefronts on May 19, according to Universal’s announcement.

Digital copies will feature over one hour of exclusive behind-the-scenes bonus content. The material includes multiple featurettes with favorite characters that delve into the film’s creation, cast, settings, themes, music, power-ups and hidden details.

A physical copy will be available when The Super Mario Galaxy Movie comes to Blu-ray on June 16. The film has lagged slightly behind its predecessor at the box office, which made over a billion dollars in theaters in 2023. The Galaxy movie has still made over $942 million in theaters thus far, positioning it as the top earner in 2026 by a large margin.

Illumination and Nintendo are working on more movies in its animated Nintendo universe, with the next film coming out in 2028.
