Tesla Sends Invites for Semi Rollout Event on September 24

Tesla has begun sending invitations for its official Semi "Rollout" event scheduled for September 24 at its new factory in Sparks, Nevada.

Tesla schedules Semi factory celebration. The event marks the official opening of the dedicated commercial truck factory, which Tesla says covers 1.8 million square feet and is designed to eventually build up to 50,000 trucks annually. Invitations confirm the date and location with a digital card showing a frontal view of the refreshed Semi framed by illuminated tunnel arches.

Sandy Munro, an automotive teardown expert and manufacturing veteran, shared an image of his invitation on X, indicating that the guest list is taking shape. This follows Tesla announcing the Nevada event late last month. Attendees may bring one guest, with entry restricted to those aged 21 and older.

Event program focuses on production and performance. Guests can expect guided factory tours of the high-volume assembly lines that demonstrate vertical integration and pack assembly. Demo rides will highlight the refreshed Semi's cabin layout, driver comfort features, low-vibration acoustics, independent front suspension and more.

The agenda includes deep dives into updated hardware such as electric steering assistance, 48-volt electronics and custom 4680 battery cells. Presentations will cover fleet economics, showing how the Semi's efficiency and lower maintenance reduce total cost of ownership versus diesel rigs. Updates on autonomous capabilities are also possible after Tesla confirmed earlier this summer that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is coming to the Semi.

Production ramp follows years of limited output. Tesla first unveiled the Semi in 2017, with initial deliveries beginning in limited volume in late 2022. The first units rolled off the high-volume Nevada production line in April. Last fall Tesla unveiled refreshed Standard Range and Long Range versions.

The production Semi includes a revised front lightbar, upgraded steering actuators and access to Megacharger stations capable of up to 1.2 MW DC fast charging. Standard Range offers approximately 325 miles of range while Long Range targets approximately 500 miles. Both versions share 1.7 kWh/mi energy consumption, up to 60% charge in 30 minutes, MCS 3.2 charging, three independent rear-axle motors delivering up to 800 kW and up to 25 kW ePTO output.

Global expansion plans surface ahead of event. Tesla may discuss expanding Semi availability beyond the U.S. This follows news that the Semi is coming to Europe with customer deliveries starting in 2027. Whether the September 24 event will be livestreamed remains uncertain, as the recent Cybercab launch was not broadcast publicly and the truck targets commercial fleets rather than consumers.
