Apple announced a new 24-inch iMac with the M6 chip on Oct. 27. The 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU model starts at $1,499, or $1,449 with education savings. A 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU model starts at $1,699, or $1,599 for education.

Preorders open Oct. 28 at 1:10 PM AST on apple.com and in the Apple Store app in 35 countries and regions, including the U.S. The iMac arrives Nov. 6, in stores and at Apple Authorized Resellers.
iMac is the world’s best all-in-one, and today it raises the bar yet again.

Apple says its tests show up to 1.5x faster Excel performance, up to 2x faster Affinity graphics and up to 5x faster LM Studio prompt processing than an iMac with M4 (a 10-core, 32GB, 2TB M4 system for most comparisons). Against the most popular Intel-based iMac, Apple claims up to 18x faster performance. These are Apple's own numbers.

The iMac keeps its 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 500 nits, a 12MP Center Stage camera and seven colors. It adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Apple says the SSD is up to 2x faster across the line. The 12-core model adds up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports and an available 2.5Gb Ethernet option.

“iMac is the world’s best all-in-one, and today it raises the bar yet again,” said Shelly Goldberg, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering.
