Apple Sports Expands to 170 Countries With 2026 World Cup Features
TL;DRAI · 60 sec read

Apple expands the Apple Sports app to 170 countries by adding over 90 new markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. It introduces World Cup tools such as bracket views, lineup formations, news links, and lock screen updates. These changes let users track scores and matches in real time from more locations.

Apple has expanded its Apple Sports app to more than 90 additional countries. The new markets include Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and many others across the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa.

The app was already released in North America, South America, and Europe. In total, it is now available in 170 countries and regions around the world.

Apple also added dedicated features for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament bracket view provides a clean, scrollable view of matchups and results for each round. This allows fans to easily track a team's progression from the group stage through their final match.

Enhanced game cards now include visual formations for each team's starting lineup. The feature provides deeper tactical insight ahead of each match.

One-tap access to Apple News connects fans directly to comprehensive editorial coverage, including the latest headlines. Apple Sports supports Live Activities, allowing users to follow their favorite World Cup teams and keep track of scores for each match at a glance on the iPhone's Lock Screen or Dynamic Island, and on the Apple Watch.

"The World Cup unites fans across the globe, making it the ideal moment to bring Apple Sports to even more users," said Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Music, Sports, Apple TV, and Beats. "Apple Sports was designed to be fast and simple, giving fans an easy way to stay on top of scores, stats, and the action that matters most in real time."

The app remains available on the iPhone only.

CISA Warns Hackers Exploit Patched SolarWinds Serv-U Flaw

CISA warned that hackers are actively exploiting a recently patched high-severity flaw in SolarWinds Serv-U software to crash servers and added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog. The agency ordered federal agencies to patch by June 19 and urged all organizations to mitigate the ongoing attacks immediately.

S&P 500 Rejects Fast-Track for SpaceX and AI Firms

S&P Dow Jones Indices refused to waive seasoning, profitability, or public float rules for SpaceX's IPO, blocking accelerated S&P 500 entry that could have unlocked billions in passive funds. The same barriers now apply to expected IPOs from OpenAI and Anthropic, limiting exposure of retirement assets to unprofitable AI bets.

New York Passes One-Year Moratorium on New Large Data Centers

New York lawmakers approved a one-year moratorium on new large data centers, the first such statewide measure if signed by Governor Hochul. The pause aims to study environmental and energy impacts amid growing AI-driven demand.
