Google Launches AI Remix Tool for YouTube Shorts
TL;DRAI · 60 sec read

Google launches a YouTube Shorts Remix tool powered by Gemini Omni. Users restyle clips into anime, pixel art, or horror styles and alter content or insert themselves into others' videos straight from the player. Creators can disable the feature on their uploads, while remixed shorts carry watermarks that link back to the originals. The change adds new editing options with creator safeguards.

Google announced a new YouTube Shorts Remix feature that lets users restyle clips or even insert themselves into other people’s videos using Gemini Omni. The tool integrates directly into the Shorts viewing interface.

Now, at the bottom of a YouTube Short, when you click the remix icon, you’ll see an option to “reimagine” it. This opens the prompt interface for Gemini Omni to process the clip.
Gemini Omni can turn video into anime or put giant heads on people.

Here, you can prompt Gemini to turn a video into pixel art, an anime, or a found-footage horror film. Gemini Omni can turn video into anime or put giant heads on people.

Beyond restyling, users can also alter the contents by inflating heads, inserting background actors, dressing people in pirate costumes, or even putting yourself in the clip. The modifications are generated through the same Gemini Omni system.
Beyond restyling, users can also alter the contents by inflating heads, inserting background actors, dressing people in pirate costumes, or even putting yourself in the clip.

Creators can enable or disable the ability to reimagine videos. So, if you upload a short of your kids and would prefer that people not be able to manipulate it for obvious and understandable reasons, you can turn off remixing.

Google also says that shorts remixed through Omni will have a digital watermark and link back to the original video. The feature was announced as part of Google I/O 2026.

CISA Warns Hackers Exploit Patched SolarWinds Serv-U Flaw

CISA warned that hackers are actively exploiting a recently patched high-severity flaw in SolarWinds Serv-U software to crash servers and added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog. The agency ordered federal agencies to patch by June 19 and urged all organizations to mitigate the ongoing attacks immediately.

S&P 500 Rejects Fast-Track for SpaceX and AI Firms

S&P Dow Jones Indices refused to waive seasoning, profitability, or public float rules for SpaceX's IPO, blocking accelerated S&P 500 entry that could have unlocked billions in passive funds. The same barriers now apply to expected IPOs from OpenAI and Anthropic, limiting exposure of retirement assets to unprofitable AI bets.

New York Passes One-Year Moratorium on New Large Data Centers

New York lawmakers approved a one-year moratorium on new large data centers, the first such statewide measure if signed by Governor Hochul. The pause aims to study environmental and energy impacts amid growing AI-driven demand.
