iPhone Fold Mass Production Slips to August

Apple’s iPhone Fold mass production slips from July to August, Digitimes reports, citing supply chain sources and a delayed Engineering Verification Test. The shift shortens inventory buildup before the planned launch later this year, potentially causing shortages at debut. Reports conflict: Nikkei warns of months-long delays from engineering issues; Bloomberg says it remains on track for 2026 introduction.

A Digitimes report states that production of Apple’s upcoming iPhone Fold has hit a roadblock, with mass production slipping from July to August this year, according to sources within the company’s supply chain.

New iPhones traditionally begin mass production in June to build inventory ahead of September launches. The shift to August leaves Apple with less time to stockpile units, potentially making the iPhone Fold hard to buy at launch.

Reports conflict: Nikkei Asia cited significant engineering issues that could delay first shipments by months, while Bloomberg reported last week that the foldable iPhone remains on track for Apple’s normal iPhone launch period later this year.

Supply chain sources confirm the August shift but emphasize Apple still aims for a 2026 introduction. Following a delayed Engineering Verification Test, the device must pass Design Validation Testing and Production Validation Testing before full manufacturing.

CISA Warns Hackers Exploit Patched SolarWinds Serv-U Flaw

CISA warned that hackers are actively exploiting a recently patched high-severity flaw in SolarWinds Serv-U software to crash servers and added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog. The agency ordered federal agencies to patch by June 19 and urged all organizations to mitigate the ongoing attacks immediately.

S&P 500 Rejects Fast-Track for SpaceX and AI Firms

S&P Dow Jones Indices refused to waive seasoning, profitability, or public float rules for SpaceX's IPO, blocking accelerated S&P 500 entry that could have unlocked billions in passive funds. The same barriers now apply to expected IPOs from OpenAI and Anthropic, limiting exposure of retirement assets to unprofitable AI bets.

New York Passes One-Year Moratorium on New Large Data Centers

New York lawmakers approved a one-year moratorium on new large data centers, the first such statewide measure if signed by Governor Hochul. The pause aims to study environmental and energy impacts amid growing AI-driven demand.
