Siri Remains Beta in iOS 27 With Possible Waitlist

Mark Gurman reports that the revamped Siri in iOS 27 is still internally labeled as beta and preview, with a possible waitlist for features at launch. The chatbot-style assistant will sync chats via iCloud with auto-delete options, echoing the original Siri's two-year beta period after 2011.

Siri Remains Beta in iOS 27 With Possible Waitlist

Bloomberg reports Apple internally labels the revamped Siri as beta and preview for iOS 27. The chatbot integrates at the system level and allows iCloud-synced chats with auto-delete settings of 30 days, a year, or never. This designation may cause an initial waitlist for some features upon release.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple is still internally labeling its long-delayed revamped Siri as a "beta" and "preview" in iOS 27. The designation suggests the updated assistant will not be marketed as finished software when it arrives later this year.

Siri becomes a full chatbot integrated at system level. Apple is turning Siri into a full chatbot that users can interact with, similar to Claude or ChatGPT. The Siri chatbot will be integrated into Apple's operating systems at the system level. There will also be a Siri app for back-and-forth conversations.
It is worth noting that the original Siri also held the same "beta" caveat for two years after its 2011 debut.

Chats sync via iCloud with auto-delete controls. Siri chats will sync across devices via iCloud, making Apple's assistant similar to rivals like ChatGPT that retain history across sessions. Users' chats with Siri will also be able to auto-delete on a schedule of 30 days, a year, or never. The options will be controlled in Settings, much like Messages.

Beta label may lead to initial waitlist. Gurman says that as a result of the abiding "beta" moniker, it's possible that Apple will initially introduce a waitlist for the new Siri. This could gate access to certain features when iOS 27 arrives in September. The approach would be similar to the initial launch of the Apple Intelligence platform two years ago, though it's not clear which features they might be.
The beta and preview labeling may frustrate some users given that Apple Intelligence features first teased in 2024 have been repeatedly delayed.

Label echoes original Siri's early years. The beta and preview labeling may frustrate some users given that Apple Intelligence features first teased in 2024 have been repeatedly delayed. It is worth noting that the original Siri also held the same "beta" caveat for two years after its 2011 debut. Gurman published the details in his WWDC preview ahead of Monday's keynote, noting that almost all of the iOS 27 features covered have already made the rounds.

WWDC keynote set for June 8. WWDC 2026 kicks off with Apple's keynote on Monday, June 8 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The event is expected to expand on the Siri changes and other iOS 27 updates already detailed by Gurman.

CISA Warns Hackers Exploit Patched SolarWinds Serv-U Flaw

CISA warned that hackers are actively exploiting a recently patched high-severity flaw in SolarWinds Serv-U software to crash servers and added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog. The agency ordered federal agencies to patch by June 19 and urged all organizations to mitigate the ongoing attacks immediately.

S&P 500 Rejects Fast-Track for SpaceX and AI Firms

S&P Dow Jones Indices refused to waive seasoning, profitability, or public float rules for SpaceX's IPO, blocking accelerated S&P 500 entry that could have unlocked billions in passive funds. The same barriers now apply to expected IPOs from OpenAI and Anthropic, limiting exposure of retirement assets to unprofitable AI bets.

New York Passes One-Year Moratorium on New Large Data Centers

New York lawmakers approved a one-year moratorium on new large data centers, the first such statewide measure if signed by Governor Hochul. The pause aims to study environmental and energy impacts amid growing AI-driven demand.
