Tesla's Safety Score 3.0 Awards FSD Miles Perfect 100

Tesla's Safety Score 3.0 awards a perfect 100 to every mile driven with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) enabled and eliminates penalties for manual interventions. This boosts Tesla Insurance scores, cutting premiums for drivers who keep FSD on most trips. The update launches for new policies in Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Virginia, and Illinois.

Tesla's new Safety Score 3.0 automatically assigns a perfect score of 100 to every mile driven with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) enabled. The update intertwines the autonomous driving suite with Tesla Insurance to boost average safety scores and deliver lower monthly premiums.

Tesla Insurance calculates Safety Scores from 0 to 100 using real-time vehicle data on acceleration, braking, following distance, and speed. Higher scores yield cheaper rates, but prior versions penalized brief manual interventions during FSD use. Safety Score 3.0 eliminates that penalty, treating supervised FSD miles as the safest behavior.

Drivers keeping FSD engaged for most trips will see scores rise, potentially shaving hundreds of dollars off annual premiums. Tesla calls the change a response to customer feedback complaining that the old model punished desired FSD use.

The program launches for new policies in Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Virginia, and Illinois. Existing policyholders are excluded so far, prompting questions from owners, including those in California and Georgia hoping for nationwide expansion. Tesla has not disclosed exact premium reductions or a full rollout timeline.

Waymo to Repurpose Robotaxi Batteries for Grid Storage

Waymo and B2U Storage Solutions announced a strategic supply agreement to repurpose used batteries from the robotaxi fleet for stationary energy storage on power grids. The deal could add hundreds of megawatt-hours of capacity to projects in California and Texas while extending battery usefulness in the same regions where the vehicles operate and charge.

Toyota Abandons Lexus LF-ZC Electric Sedan for 2026

Toyota has abandoned its planned Lexus LF-ZC electric sedan that was due by the end of 2026. The company will instead focus on larger SUVs while continuing solid-state battery and gigacasting development for future EVs.

Rivian Confirms June 9 Launch for R2 with Orders, Demos and Deliveries

Rivian confirms the R2 launches on June 9 with order invitations, demo drives at its Spaces and initial customer deliveries all beginning that day. The concurrent approach seeks to avoid criticism from the R1 rollout as the company shifts toward mass-market EVs.
