Xbox Winds Down Copilot AI on Mobile and Console

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma winds down Copilot AI on mobile and stops console development. The decision follows a platform team reorganization that adds CoreAI executives. Sharma states Xbox retires misaligned features to move faster, deepen community connections, and address friction for players and developers.

New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has decided to wind down the company's Copilot AI efforts in gaming. The company will begin winding down Copilot on mobile and will stop development of Copilot on console.

Sharma made the announcement on Tuesday following a reorganization of the Xbox platform team. The changes added executives from Microsoft’s CoreAI team to the Xbox organization. Sharma had worked in the CoreAI team prior to taking over Xbox.

In a post on X, Sharma explained the rationale behind the decisions. She wrote that Xbox needs to move faster, deepen its connection with the community, and address friction for both players and developers. Today, leaders who helped build Xbox were promoted while new voices were brought in to help push the company forward. This balance is important as the business gets back on track.

As part of this shift, features that do not align with the direction will be retired. Specifically, Copilot on mobile will be wound down and development of Copilot on console will stop.

Sharma took over from former Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer in February. Since assuming the role, she has scrapped the Microsoft Gaming brand and cut the price of Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft made a big deal about Copilot for Gaming last year. The company said in March that the gaming-focused Copilot would be coming to current generation consoles sometime this year. Now, however, that will not be happening.

CISA Warns Hackers Exploit Patched SolarWinds Serv-U Flaw

CISA warned that hackers are actively exploiting a recently patched high-severity flaw in SolarWinds Serv-U software to crash servers and added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog. The agency ordered federal agencies to patch by June 19 and urged all organizations to mitigate the ongoing attacks immediately.

S&P 500 Rejects Fast-Track for SpaceX and AI Firms

S&P Dow Jones Indices refused to waive seasoning, profitability, or public float rules for SpaceX's IPO, blocking accelerated S&P 500 entry that could have unlocked billions in passive funds. The same barriers now apply to expected IPOs from OpenAI and Anthropic, limiting exposure of retirement assets to unprofitable AI bets.

New York Passes One-Year Moratorium on New Large Data Centers

New York lawmakers approved a one-year moratorium on new large data centers, the first such statewide measure if signed by Governor Hochul. The pause aims to study environmental and energy impacts amid growing AI-driven demand.
