October 7 — local AI, Surface hardware; Nadella and Jensen Huang in San Francisco

Microsoft and NVIDIA unveiled RTX Spark hardware for local AI agents on Windows PCs. The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box opened preorders at $5,999 for November shipment. Surface Laptop Ultra launches October 16 from $2,599 with Magnetic Connect charging. Windows taskbar search becomes an AI chatbot this fall. Hybrid AI runs 70B to 284B parameter models locally. Copilot gains file access on Copilot+ PCs. New Insider builds added updated search and battery widget.

OpenAI DevDay 2026

OpenAI developer conference and announcements

OpenAI held DevDay in San Francisco with a keynote from Sam Altman. The company launched a $500 Pro tier and GPT-6.1 Sol model while cutting allowances on the $200 plan. It also released always-on Dots agents powered by GPT-6 Astra for multi-step tasks with user-defined rules and approval gates.

Tesla Semi Rollout Event

Invites sent for September 24 rollout

Tesla launched high-volume Semi production at its Sparks, Nevada, plant on September 24 and began deliveries to fleet customers including PepsiCo, DHL and US Foods. Tesla said the 1.8 million-square-foot plant is built for 50,000 trucks a year.

Meta Connect 2026

Meta's annual AR/VR and AI developer conference

Meta Connect 2026 opened with a focus on AI and smart glasses. Meta announced FDA-cleared hearing enhancement for its glasses, camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio models, third-generation Ray-Bans, an opt-out for AI training on captured visuals, 100-gram VR glasses with a pocket compute puck, and the Charm keychain device running Muse AI.

Surprise and Shine

Apple's Sept. 9 event, first under John Ternus

Apple held Surprise and Shine on Sept. 9 under new CEO John Ternus. Headline: iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable, starting at $1,999. Also: iPhone 18 Pro with variable aperture and Reference Image auth, Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, AirPods 5 from $129, Apple Care One, and iOS 27 on Sept. 14.

Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25 featured over 50 announcements. Archetype set Exodus for April 7 2027. Wizards of the Coast showed first Warlock gameplay from the Dungeons & Dragons universe. Eclipse Glow recast Tides of Annihilation lead Gwendolyn with Angela Sant'Albano. Paradox announced Lego Cities Skylines. Infinity Ward patched spawn issues in the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 beta.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked July 2026

Samsung's summer Unpacked event unveiling new foldables and devices

Samsung revealed its first wide-body foldable as part of the three-model 2026 Galaxy Z8 lineup, which includes the Z Fold 8 Ultra and a thinner Z Flip 8. The event also introduced two smartwatches with larger batteries and faster charging.

Nintendo Direct confirmed Stellar Blade for Switch 2 in 2026. Orbitals launches September 3 as a Switch 2 exclusive. Pokopia gains a free August underwater update plus paid expansions. Capcom ports Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Devil May Cry 5 and Dragon’s Dogma 2 to Switch 2. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave releases September 17 on Switch 2.

Apple WWDC 2026

Tim Cook unveils what's next for iOS, macOS, vision OS, and Apple Intelligence.

Apple announced iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, iPadOS 27 and visionOS 27 at WWDC 2026. The releases add a redesigned AI Siri, Liquid Glass transparency controls, up to 80 percent faster AirDrop, child safety restrictions, automatic compromised password changes and natural language Shortcuts creation. iOS 27 supports iPhone 11 and newer.

PC Gaming Show 2026

PC Gamer annual showcase - 50+ games and world premieres, right after the Xbox Games Showcase.

Stronghold 4 was revealed at the PC Gaming Show. The title features voice work by Samantha Béart and Ben Starr. It is the tenth entry in the series that launched 25 years ago.

Xbox Games Showcase 2026

Microsoft set Fable for February 23, Gears of War: E-Day for October 6 as Xbox exclusive, and Halo: Campaign Evolved for July 28. New titles include Spyro: A Realm Beyond in Spring 2027, Minecraft Dungeons II in Fall 2026, and DMZ on October 23. A translucent Series X25 marked Xbox's 25th anniversary.

Playstation State of Play

Sony showed seven minutes of Wolverine gameplay at State of Play. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was dated February 12, 2027. Ace Combat 8 launches October 2, 2026 on PS5. Stuntman: Hollywood was announced. Silent Hill: Townfall and Control Resonant both release September 24, 2026.

Microsoft announced Windows 11 optimizations at Build 2026, adding native Linux command-line tools, WSL containers, an Intelligent Terminal, and simpler setups. It also released MAI-Thinking-1, a 35-billion-parameter reasoning model, among seven new in-house AI models focused on agents.

SpaceX Starship Flight 12 — First V3 Launch

Debut of the upgraded Starship V3, Raptor 3 engines, and the new Pad 2 at Starbase.

SpaceX launched the first Starship Version 3 on Flight 12 from the new Pad 2 at Starbase, Texas, on May 22, 2026 — a day after an initial attempt was scrubbed by a stuck tower-arm hydraulic pin. The upgraded vehicle, featuring next-generation Raptor 3 engines, greater fuel capacity and structural improvements, flew as planned, with the Ship completing a controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean.

Google I/O 2026

Google announced Gemini 3.5 Flash and Android XR glasses at I/O 2026 along with model, Search, and Workspace updates. The company deployed a full Gemini app redesign with Neural Expressive visuals and structured responses across Android, iOS, and web. Blackstone committed $5 billion to a U.S. AI infrastructure venture using Google TPUs for 500 MW capacity by 2027.
